Meet Brittany Cohill
A first-generation college graduate, Brittany earned her bachelor’s degree in history and psychology from the University of North Florida, later completing a master’s degree in U.S. History while balancing motherhood and full-time career responsibilities. Her hard work and dedication were recognized when she was named UNF’s Department of History Outstanding Graduate Student for 2017–2018.
Brittany’s professional career reflects her passion for people, history, and community. She has served Jacksonville’s cultural and educational institutions for more than a decade, beginning as an unpaid intern and ultimately becoming the Executive Director of the Mandarin Museum in 2023. She also spent seven years teaching history at Jacksonville University, where she earned the University’s inaugural Adjunct Faculty of Excellence Award.
Beyond her professional work, Brittany has invested deeply in her community. She serves on UNF’s College of Arts & Sciences Industry Advisory Board, mentors students through the Community Alliance for Student Success, and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Mandarin. She and her family are parishioners at San Jose Catholic Church. Brittany participates in the Council of Catholic Women. She is also a founding member of the Jax Beaches Republican Women’s Club.
Her husband, David, serves as a Sergeant with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department and has dedicated his career to public safety and law enforcement leadership. Together, Brittany and David are strong advocates for safe neighborhoods, strong families, and community engagement.
Brittany’s campaign for Jacksonville City Council, District 6, is rooted in her love for Mandarin and her belief that thriving communities are built on strong local leadership. Her priorities include:
- Safe Streets & Strong Families – ensuring First Responders have the tools and support to keep neighborhoods secure while fostering a culture of respect and civic responsibility.
- Thoughtful Growth & Preservation – protecting the character of Mandarin while encouraging responsible economic development and investment.
- Efficient, Ethical Government – promoting transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility in city government.
- Quality of Life – investing in parks, arts, culture, transportation, and small businesses to make Jacksonville a city where residents love to live, work, and play.
Brittany is guided by her Catholic faith and her belief the best solutions come from empowering local communities. Her leadership style is marked by optimism, transparency, and consensus-building — always placing the dignity of the individual and the good of the community at the center of decision-making.
Brittany Cohill is ready to bring her dedication, experience, and vision to City Council, ensuring Jacksonville’s future is one of safety, prosperity, and opportunity for every family.
